If your business does not have social media pages, you are missing out on a number of benefits only social media can bring.

Recent studies by Statistica reveals that the number of worldwide users on social media is projected to hit a whopping 3.02 billion active users per month by 2021. That’s one-third of the world’s entire population!

So, it is no secret that social media is a fertile ground for your business. In fact, if your business does not have social media pages, you are missing out on a number of benefits only social media can bring.

However, it is not enough to have an Instagram or Facebook page for your business, you have to make sure the right people can see your products and services which would then translate to sales.

Here are 4 ways to grow your business through social media:

  • Have a strategy

To ensure you are handling your social media account(s) properly, you must have a sustainable structure in place. Having a goal for improving your social media presence is only the beginning. You must come up with a working plan to achieve that goal.

Creating a content calendar is a great place to start. Basically, it is a guide to help you plan posts and make sure you don’t miss days. It is a very important part of whatever your strategy is as it should help you answer questions such as: Who is my target audience? (age-range, interests) What type of content should be created that would interest my target audience? When and on what platforms should certain content will be published?

Likewise, be sure to incorporate stories, pictures, and videos to your social media posts as they are a great way to get people’s attention.

  • Actively relate with your audience

Even though quality content is extremely important for your business’ social media pages, you just can’t post your stuff and walk away.

At the very core of social media is human connection and engagement, and that’s the easiest way to build relationships with your current and prospective customers. Hence, you should engage with your audience by liking, sharing, and commenting on other people’s posts.

You can also ask your customers, especially friends and family to post pictures/reviews of your products on their pages. Giving discounts for those that do this would encourage other customers to follow suit and translate to more publicity.

  • Be consistent

For the numerous benefits it has for your business, social media demands a lot of time and consistency. It takes time and patience to establish a reliable presence.

Despite the fact that tools like Hootsuite can minimize the time you’ll have to dedicate to social media, it still requires at least 15 minutes a day to monitor your channels and respond to questions and conversations. In terms of posting frequency, the right number really depends on the platform you’re using. Study your platforms and decide the best time and frequency for posts.

  • Find the RIGHT influencers.

If you can afford influencers, make sure they are the right fit. For instance, using an A-list celebrity to pitch your products is not only expensive but an overused tactic. Recently, the use of social media micro-influencers – those with under 50,000 followers has become quite popular. They usually have organic and loyal followings with specific areas of strength.

Hence, when picking an influencer, their niche should be put into consideration. You must also pick influencers who share your brand’s vision and message. Do not simply choose an influencer based on their followers, likes, and comments – do they also have the same values that your company believes in? If the answer is yes, then they are most likely the right influencer.

Above all, remember to always give the best quality to your customers. This is the greatest way to grow your business.
